Are you a fan of the latest episodes of the Star Wars Universe trilogy? Many fans of Star Wars have a love-hate relationship with Ben Solo. The son of Leia Organa and Han Solo was once a Jedi apprentice but later become the Supreme Leader of the First Order. He assumed his alter ego, Kylo Ren, when he became the leader of the Knights of Ren. He later turned away from the dark side and killed all the members of the order of the Knights of Ren.
If you pay attention to the lightsaber fights that Ben Solo and Kylo Ren Lightsaber fought, you may have noticed that their combat styles are distinctly different. Their choice of lightsaber was also different. The Ben Solo lightsaber hilt featured the traditional Jedi knight design. Like other Jedi lightsabers, it relied on a kyber crystal as its primary source of power. It also had a diatium power cell that provided it with additional power. The lighter and standard length lightsaber enabled Ben Solo to fight with the flair that Jedi knights that had gone before him showed in combat.
The Star Wars Kylo Ren Lightsaber on the other hand features a cross-guard that is made from two lightsabers. The lightsaber as fashioned after an ancient design that was popular during the Great Scourge of Malachor.
Ren’s lightsaber was assembled crudely and was unstable because of the unstable kyber crystal at its core. The cross-guards were designed to help divert extra heat energy.
Ren’s combat style was largely influenced by his rage as well as the weight and length of his cross-guard lightsaber. His lightsaber required a great deal of strength and skill to wield. His form was less dramatic than Ben Solo’s but just as effective.
